Modernisation of the Tramway Network - Service Changes during the month of June: Works affecting lines 3-5-8-14 and 19

The significant Acea works on Viale Liegi have been completed. Construction of the new Ottaviano station on Metro Line C and the redevelopment of Viale del Parco del Celio remain under way. Meanwhile, roadworks on Via Giacomo Bresadola continue to affect tram services on lines 5 and 19, and the construction of the new Tram Line 10 on Viale Palmiro Togliatti is impacting tram line 14. Works are also under way at the Trastevere depot to prepare the site for the charging infrastructure required by Rome’s new zero-emission electric bus fleet, with associated utility works affecting tram services on lines 3 and 8 between 8 and 14 June.


Here are all the details of the affected routes, timings, and replacement stops.

Buses serve the same stops as the tram except:

• instead of Viale del Parco del Celio, they run via Via di San Gregorio and Via Celio Vibenna

TOWARDS TRASTEVERE STATION

Buses serve the same stops as the tram except:

• at Porta Maggiore, buses end their route in the centre of the square, next to the tram stop heading towards Trastevere.

• instead of Viale del Parco del Celio, they run via Via Celio Vibenna and Via di San Gregorio

• on Viale Aventino, they stop in the side lane like bus route 75

• on Viale Trastevere, from Viale Glorioso to Trastevere station, they use the side lane like night bus route N8

3From Monday 8 June to Sunday 14 June

Until approximately 8:00 p.m:

  • Replacement bus service between Trastevere station and Piramide.
  • Tram services operate normally between Piramide and Valle Giulia.

From approximately 8:00 p.m,:

  • Replacement bus service between Trastevere station and Porta Maggiore
  • Tram services operate normally between Porta Maggiore and Valle Giulia.

On Sundays:

  • Replacement bus service between Trastevere station and Piramide.
  • Tram services operate normally between Piramide and Valle Giulia,

Replacement bus line 519 between Piazza dei Gerani and Largo Preneste

Between Largo Preneste and Termini station, services are available on tram line 514 in both directions.

Replacement buses serve the same stops as the tram except for:

  • Casaletto: the terminus is on the roadside at the corner with Via Ottavio Gasparri
  • Circonvallazione Gianicolense towards Piazza Venezia: until Via Ozanam, buses run in the side lane like bus route 792
  • Piazza Venezia: the terminus is in Via degli Astalli
  • Towards Casaletto: on Viale Trastevere and Circonvallazione Gianicolense, stops are in the side lane like night bus route N8

Replacement bus service between Largo Preneste and Quarticciolo

  • On Via Prenestina, bus stops are located on the tram lane between Largo Preneste and Via Giacomo Bresadola, and on the side lanes on the Via Giacomo Bresadola-Viale Palmiro Togliatti section.
  • On Viale Palmiro Togliatti, stops are on the side lanes.
19 From 18 May

Tram service is replaced by buses between Valle Giulia and Metro line A station Ottaviano

Regular tram service between Porta Maggiore and Valle Giulia

Passengers travelling between Porta Maggiore and Largo Preneste can use tram line 514, while bus line 519 provides onward connections to Centocelle.

 

Trams will return to Prati with the opening of the new tram terminus on Viale delle Milizie.

All day

Between Valle Giulia and Metro line A station Ottaviano buses serve the following stops:

TOWARDS VIALE GIULIO CESARE

  • At Valle Giulia, buses terminate in the centre of the square, just like tram lines 3 and 19.
  • Up to Viale delle Milizie, buses stop at the same stops as the tram, then continue along Via Leone IV and Viale Giulio Cesare.

TOWARDS PORTA MAGGIORE

  • on Viale delle Milizie, buses serve tram stops
  • at Piazza della Marina, buses stop in the side lane like night bus route N201
