How BIT 100-minute and Roma 24/48/72h tickets work

Follow the guided process

Remember: tickets must be activated just before boarding or before passing through the turnstiles.

  • To travel on surface transport (bus, tram, trolleybus): activate the ticket by pressing the “Bus” button before boarding.
  • To travel on the metro: open the ticket, press the “Metro” button, and show the QR Code generated by the system to the optical reader at the turnstile.
  • QR CODE READERS AVAILABLE
    • Traditional readers: located on top of the turnstiles. Each station has two dedicated gates, usually the first on the right and the last on the left.
    • All-in-One readers: integrated into new turnstiles, recognisable by their digital screen and located on the front. Each metro station has one or more All-in-One turnstiles.
    TO AVOID READING ISSUES:
    • Do not place your smartphone flat on the reader.
    • Keep the phone parallel or slightly tilted relative to the reader glass.
    • Increase screen brightness before presenting the QR Code.
  • To travel on Metro C and regional lines Metromare and Roma-Viterbo (urban section): open the ticket, press the “Bus” button. A QR Code will be generated to present to the optical readers at metro turnstiles (see “To travel on the metro” for QR Code usage).
  • To travel by train: activate the ticket by pressing the “Treno” (Train) button and select the departure station.

How the subscription works

Follow the guided process

Access the App, register for the service, and purchase your subscription. The ticket is issued with predefined start and end dates, so it is already active upon purchase.

To travel on the metro: show the QR Code generated by the system to the optical reader at the turnstile. QR Code readers can be:

  • Traditional readers on top of the turnstile (each station has two dedicated gates, usually the first on the right and the last on the left);
  • New “All-in-One” readers integrated into new turnstiles, recognisable by their digital screen and located on the front.

Ticket inspection:

For checks, simply open the App and show the activated ticket QR Code on your smartphone to the inspector. Each activated ticket generates a dynamic QR Code, so if multiple tickets are activated simultaneously in the same App, each QR Code corresponds to a valid ticket.

Free parking at Park&Ride Car Parks

Customers with an active digital monthly or annual subscription can enjoy free parking at park&ride car parks following these simple steps:

Automated car parks
  • At the entrance, take a ticket from the machine.
  • Before exiting, go to the staffed cashier and hand over the ticket, showing the App screen with the subscription expiry date.
  • The operator verifies the subscription validity and, if valid, issues a ticket for free exit.
  • You can then exit and enjoy free parking by inserting the authorised ticket into the machine.
Car Parks with parking meter - Metrebus Parking counterfoil
  • If you already have an active digital subscription, go to a Metrebus Parking distribution point (staffed car parks or ATAC ticket offices) and show the App screen with the subscription expiry date.
  • After verifying validity, the ATAC operator will provide the Metrebus Parking pass.
  • You can then park free of charge for the duration of the active subscription by displaying the original counterfoil clearly inside the vehicle.
